Letter to Mark Eilbeck:- 19th November 2008

Thank you for your letter dated 6 November on your request for a report back on the “conclusions and decisions” taken at the meeting of our Area Council Reps in Doncaster recently.

I can only respond by saying that such meetings, as you should know, hold no formal position in the union’s structure and therefore are held simply for briefings to be made by our negotiators and a sharing of information by those in attendance. In the circumstances, therefore, there are no formal decisions or conclusions reached. There was, however, a consensus that the negotiators with Network Rail continue after the reps heard a report from the negotiators and, on this, I can point you in the direction of the circular I sent out on 27 October 2008 (Circular No: IR/255/08).

Further circulars and personal letters to the members concerned will be issued as and when further developments arise in this matter.
